Rise From Disability Through Acceptance and Regaining Independence

Hi, I'm One Footed Phoenix! I'm a disability advocate and mentor who's actually lived it in your corner. I am ready to lead you in your journey to become a phoenix rising from the ashes and to show you that there is hope to be found again! I have personal experience with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, chronic pain, being a wheelchair user, and choosing to have an amputation due to CRPS or Complex Regional Pain Syndrome. I understand full well the frustrations of being passed from doctor to doctor, fighting for the right mental health care, and wheelchair accommodations! From learning to self-advocate to getting chronic pain under control or adapting your life around limb loss, let's fly together!

Chronic Pain Management and

Self-Advocacy

Through personal experience with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome or CRPS, I have learned a lot about pain management and the gap between patient experience and what doctors can offer. I also discovered there’s a great need in the chronic pain community for patients to become self-advocates with their medical and mental health providers. I can teach you what to say and how to explain experiences with chronic pain to get what you need out of countless medical appointments. From proper note-taking skills to how to keep all your medical records straight, to fighting for a better quality of life and having medications strong enough to fight extreme pain conditions, I’m ready to be your mentor. Don’t go to yet another doctor appointment only to forget half your medication list or only to address the annoying symptoms of your chronic pain in the moment. Take back your rights as a patient to receive the best care!

Increase Quality of Life with Chronic Pain through Energy Budgeting

Thriving with Chronic pain is more than just drugging it. There’s a delicate dance between proper medication mixes, learning what triggers pain flares, and tracking your symptoms. I can teach you to manage your energy like a budget of money and avoid crashing into chronic pain flares. I also teach you how to calm the whole nervous system so you can reduce the volume of your pain alarms. This method is even backed by pain management science! If you're ready to reduce your chronic pain, you’re at the right place.

Wheelchair Adaptation to Life

Trying to figure out life when you need to start using a wheelchair can be overwhelming on your own. Learn about tools that can make life easier! I've used a wheelchair every day for the past 5 years. From grab bars in the bathroom to lifting a wheelchair into a vehicle, and even what to look for when buying a custom manual wheelchair, I've become an expert. Wheelchair life doesn’t have to mean that life is over, but that a new phase of life is just beginning!

Adapting to life in a wheelchair can also be about treating your mental health with kindness and professional help. While I am not a mental health professional, I can help you make sure you get the right kind of help. I can teach you to calm down your nervous system and focus on your self-care. Also, I teach gratitude practices that have taken me from rock bottom to being thankful for the lessons along my own journey!

Amputee Guidance

The process of deciding to get an amputation or becoming one through an accident is not an easy road. While I may not be using a prosthetic every day, I have still learned a lot in the process. From phantom pain to the process of getting a prosthetic, I'm here for all your questions.

Some activities will be best suited for prosthetic use, while others may not be. The freedom of just walking again, though, is a big deal!
